Paragliding : Verbier April 2004

I had a great week of snowboarding and paragliding in Verbier this year.
The two sports are great, because they are complementary in many aspects:

• In the morning, the snow is good, the legs are strong and the thermals are weak.
  -> Lets go boarding!
• In the afternoon in April, the sun comes out and changes all that to the opposite
  -> Come on flying!

Start

When the sun is out, you can easily find some spots that are guaranteed to provide a good uplift.
Then there is no need to go higher than the first cable-car stop - Les Ruinettes.
Start right there at the official paraglider starting point.

Landing

There are some Landing sites in Verbier, but then you waste some altitude
compared to flying to Le Chable, the village below Verbier. You can land right
next to the cable-car station in le Chable

Flight

As you can see there is good thermals next to Les Ruinettes (middle-station cable car)
and directly above Verbier (search around cable car station)
